The ceiling in room 321 - it's finally overhead instead of all over the
floor!
This room is located on the Temple - Wesson corner of the building.
Like all the top floor classrooms in the original high school
building, the ceiling corners are rounded above the picture rail and
the ceiling "framed" with more detail.
Also characteristic of the corner rooms, the thin windows at both ends
of the classrooms along State and Temple Street sides. This was
not duplicated in the junior high addition of 1921.
This room was originally a chemistry classroom.
Science classrooms were put on the top floor of "modern school houses"
because fire spread upwards before seeking fuel below the flame's base.
The owner told me that when he bought this unit, the abandoned gas
pipes were visible in the floor.
