In this picture one can see the original lighting of both the auditorium and the loge along with the skylights.
The original loge lights look like they come way down from the ceiling.  The lighting most of us remember was well out of reach, I believe changed in 1910.
The skylights were in the blank ceiling panels, while the ones that held chandeliers were a little more ornate.
